The Kalin Shrine was originally a place dedicated to the Goddess of Art and the Nine Muses. When Ayvenas, the Creator, called her back, her loyal disciple did not leave, but stayed and awaited his master's return. After Regin killed the poor disciple, he used his knowledge of demons to turn him into a Morcus Beast-like existence. Now, that disciple has become Regin's most evil and powerful "watchdog."
